This instructional video provides guidance for using the paper sizing jig to help order the correct size for Cascade Dafo's prefabricated Fast Fit products.
Don Buethorn, CPO/Cascade Dafo owner, narrates this quick introduction to Cascade Dafo's Fast Fit orthoses. The Fast Fit line includes affordable pre-fabricated shoe inserts and above-ankle orthoses -- no casting required. For more information, visit Cascade's website and take the free online course: Fast Fit Solutions.
Kip, a 2-year-old boy who exhibits moderate low tone pronation, benefits from wearing Cascade Dafo's prefabricated JumpStart Leap Frog SMOs. This video follows the bracing process -- from patient assessment to fit and wear of the orthotics, including tips for trimming them to fit inside shoes. Narrated by Cindy Diener, CPO, from Cascade Prosthetics & Orthotics.
This before-and-after video shows a young patient wearing a pair of pre-fabricated Jump Start Leap Frog orthoses. The Jump Start Leap Frog was developed to help young children with correctable foot positions re-align their base of support for improved stability during standing and walking.
This before-and-after patient video shows a young boy who exhibits low tone pronation benefit from the use of Cascade Dafo's prefabricated shoe insert, the Fast Fit Chipmunk. The unique trimlines of this shoe insert offer a good solution for patients who require more support than an insole, but would be over-braced in an above-ankle orthosis.
This before and after video shows a young patient benefitting from the added stability and support provided by a pair of pre-fabricated JumpStart Leap Frog orthoses. The JumpStart Leap Frog was developed to help young children exhibiting moderate to strong pronation realign their base of support for improved stability in standing and walking. Full wrap-around flexible support ecompasses the foot and ankle for pronation control. A well-defined plantar surface and compression provide proprioceptive input.
This before and after video shows a young patient benefitting from the added stability and support provided by a pair of pre-fabricated JumpStart LeapFrog orthoses. The JumpStart LeapFrog was developed to help young children exhibiting moderate to strong pronation realign their base of support for improved stability in standing and walking. Full wrap-around flexible support ecompasses the foot and ankle for pronation control. A well-defined plantar surface and compression provide proprioceptive input.
This before-and-after patient video shows a young boy who exhibits strong low tone pronation. He shows distinct heel eversion, marked forefoot abduction, and an absent medial arch. The after video shows him in a pair of custom-fabricated DAFO 4 orthoses with noteable improvements in foot position, stability and gait. Because of his fully-correctable alignment, this patient would also be a good candidate for an off-the-shelf solution: the JumpStart Leap Frog.
In this before-and-after video, a young girl with hemiplegia wears a DAFO Tami2 to control toe walking on her affected side. The custom-fabricated DAFO Tami2 is an articulated AFO with Tamarack hinges (straight or dorsi-assist). This two-part orthosis has a flexible, polyethelene liner to comfortable maintain or correct foot alignment. The outer frame has a plantarflexion stop (also available in a free-ankle version).
This video follows Ellen, a 2-year-old girl with Down syndrome, during a pediatric physical therapy session. Her physical therapist, Jill Smith, narrates the video and talks about the purpose of various PT exercises shown throughout the session. Includes commentary and tips for working with toddlers. Ellen is wearing a pair of Cascade Dafo's prefabricated UCBL-style shoe inserts, the Fast Fit PollyWog (the PollyWog product has since been updated and replaced by the Fast Fit Chipmunk) to help control her low tone pronation. The shoe inserts provide increased stability and help improve Ellen's gait, especially while walking on uneven surfaces.
This patient case study follows Katie, a 4-year-old girl with Down syndrome, as she is assessed for orthoses. Includes footage of Katie walking with and without orthoses. Katie exhibits low tone pronation and benefits from the support provided from Cascade Dafo's prefabricated JumpStart Leap Frogs - SMO-style orthoses. This video is narrated by Katie's orthotist, Don Buethorn, CPO.
This video follows a pediatric physical therapy session with Sally, a 2-year-old girl. Sally has hypotonia (low muscle tone) and wears pair of Cascade Dafo's prefabricated Jump Start SMO-style orthoses (Leap Frogs). Sally's physical therapist, Beth McCarthy, narrates this video, discussing the various PT exercises performed during the session.
This video, narrated by Don Buethorn, CPO, follows 1-year-old patient Sandra. Sandra's diagnosis is status post respiratory arrest. She wears Cascade Dafo's prefabricated SMO-style orthoses, JumpStart Leap Frogs, to help control her low tone pronation. The Jump Starts are lightweight and do not require casting -- effective for young patients with a fully-correctable foot position.
This video follows the brace selection process for a child who needs control of both excess plantarflexion when working on standing in physical therapy and free plantarflexion when crawling and playing on his own, in addition to foot repositioning for his low tone supination.
This before and after video shows a patient benefiting from the added stability and support provided by a pair of DAFO 5s. The DAFO 5 is custom fabricated from a cast, has defined plantar surface contours, fully integrated padding, and partial heel and midfoot wrap.
This before-and-after video shows a young boy who exhibits low tone pronation benefiting from the stability provided by a pair of custom-fabricated DAFO 4s. The DAFO 4 comfortably surrounds the foot, providing the patient with reliably stable support. With the foot comfortably held in a good functional position, the patient gains confidence in the ability to stand and bear weight, encouraging the use and development of walking skills.
In this before and after video, a young girl wears JumpStart Kangaroos to help control her knee hyperextension.
The solid proximal-posterior upright of the JumpStart Kangaroo blocks her plantarflexion, preventing her from hyperextending at the knee. Because there is no proximal anterior strap, her leg is free to move into dorsiflexion.
In this before and after video, a young girl wears JumpStart Softbacks to help control her mild knee hyperextension.
The padded Dacron posterior strap resists her plantarflexion, reducing her knee hyperextension. The SMO design allows her leg to move freely into dorsiflexion.
This before-and-after video shows a young patient with very strong pronation wearing DAFO Tami2s.
The DAFO Tami2s allow the patient free dorsiflexion and plantarflexion, but control the patients strong pronation because of how high up the leg they go, giving more control for pronation than SMOs.
