Ordering Overview

Designed to support collaborative patient care, the Cascade DAFO® ordering process keeps ordering efficient and predictable. Below is a checklist-style overview of the ordering journey, with links to deeper resources where needed.

Ordering Checklist

Before placing an order, practitioners must have an active account with Cascade DAFO.

  • Facilities may open an account directly with Cascade DAFO

  • Approved accounts receive pricing and ordering access

  • U.S. facilities may submit a credit application

  • International accounts should contact Customer Support to get started

Selecting the appropriate orthosis is critical to achieving the desired functional outcome.

  • Evaluate the patient’s presentation, tone, alignment, and gait

  • Determine whether a Custom DAFO® or Fast Fit® solution is appropriate

  • Use the DAFO® Guide to Brace Selection as a reference when needed

DAFO® orders may be submitted using one of two primary paths. Both are supported and equally valid when performed correctly.

Option A: Casting for Custom DAFO® Orthoses
Casting captures the patient’s corrected foot and ankle position and remains a common method for custom fabrication.

  • Accurately capture foot shape and volume in corrected alignment

  • The quality of the cast directly affects fit and function

  • Casts are shipped to Cascade Dafo for fabrication

Option B: Digital Scanning (Alternative to Shipping a Cast)
Digital scanning allows practitioners to submit scan files instead of shipping physical casts. This option avoids inbound shipping and provides additional order tracking through DAFO e Orders.
Digital scanning may be used in Scanning the outside of a cast, Scanning a plaster positive mold, Direct scanning of the patient in corrected alignment.\
Accepted file formats: STL (recommended), OBJ, PLY | File size range: 1 MB to 25 MB
Scan units must be set to millimeters and Files should be kept to a reasonable size for smooth transmission.

Each DAFO® style has its own order form and configuration options.

  • Complete the correct order form for the selected brace

  • Orders may be submitted via paper forms or DAFO e Orders

  • Use the Optimization Index to further customize the orthosis based on patient needs

DAFO® products are designed to fit out of the box. Minor adjustments may be required to ensure long term comfort and optimal function.

  • Follow fitting guidance for trimming and adjustment as needed

  • Provide wear and care education to patients and families

  • Reference usage resources for long term success
